World Tai Chi Day 2008
April 30, 2008

Thanks to everyone for participating in World Tai Chi Day.  The weather was nice and the energy was wonderful.

Thanks to Connie and Sarah for sharing the story of Chang San Feng and the Crane and Snake.

Here is the poem Connie wrote in honor of WTCD this year:

A wondering monk
I hold strength in my body
I am Zhang-San Feng.

A martial master
To strive for understanding
I empty my cup.

Long time traveling
I begin to meditate
I wait in silence.

A cry of fury
She hunts with speed and beauty
A crane is in flight.

Power full wings beat
Her pray is spotted beneath
A battle begins.

Snake moves with swift grace
In fluid motion he turns
Snake evades the crane.

She moves for his head
Snake yields but strikes with tail
Crane's hold is broken.

Soft conquers power
Circular movement defeats
Crane relinquishes.

Enlightenment shines
Unfolding its many blooms
I open my eyes.

Defect, yield and strike
Breath, dantien, then body
Ah! This is T'ai Chi.
